Following the attack on the Capitol by pro-Trump insurrectionists on Jan. 6, questions about law enforcement’s response hang heavy in the minds and mouths of those who remember the Summer of 2020.
When protesters gathered in Washington D.C. to demonstrate against police brutality against Black Americans following the killing of George Floyd, they were met with an organized and militarized police force equipped with batons and pepper spray.
When Trump supporters stormed the Capitol intending to do harm to elected officials, requests to deploy the National Guard for backup were denied multiple times. The police response has been called feeble and unprepared. Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio) who chairs the appropriations subcommittee that oversees and funds the Capitol Police says the attack was an “epic failure” of policing.
Activists, community leaders and politicians want to know what was the difference in the police response from one situation to another? Many think we know the answer already.

Poor man's justice includes a PD, if they make it to trial. Often it amounts to imposing the death sentence without a trial, on an unarmed perpetrator, for a minor offense. That's why they rioted earlier this year. Rich man gets a high priced legal team i.e. the jackass from FL that was stealing a lectern. His wife is a Dr. and they've retained a high profile/$$$ team to explain what a great guy he is.

We've always had to separate police arrest methods one for the rich an one for the poor. An depending on where you are in the country one for the white an one for everyone else. Rich always get away while we get the short end of the stick.

They don't always get away with it. I've put some pretty rich guys on the docket in my career. Some can hire the best lawyers and not much you can do about that.

CW3 (Join to see) well that's a rarity but for them money talks an when you can hire the best you get to walk. So it's not the fact they get away with it but can pay to walk away from it.

Batons and pepper spray are everyday carry items for police and hardly 'militarization'. Don't see racism in the capitol police failure, just failure to lead/prepare.
