People that commit Stolen Valor are in my opinion mentally ill. They should be sent to a nut farm and have a long talk with people in clean white uniforms. There are two reasons I have seen for people to commit this act 1: To make money or influence others to get some kind of reward / kudos / respect / legitimacy for what ever they are doing. and 2: Because they crave attention so much they have fabricated this story and tend to believe it themselves.

Ether way they are ill and need to be stopped. That being said don't be a social justice warrior and try and out everyone. We have seen several case where some old vet has been lambasted because he cant remember some detail the young pup thinks he should have.

Sorry, ALL "nut farms" were CLOSED decades ago. It was found that we were incarcerating without trial and therefor illegally detaining. We paid them and put them on the streets (for the politicians and the bleeding hearts). The only ones open now are the ones for the "criminally insane" Those that commit crimes and get away with pleading insanity or mental incompetence. They may be freed anytime by proving competence.

Ya I know the "nut Farms" were closed but there are still 24hr mental health hold and mental institutions for people. I have a few friends that have been in them for self harm. There is always a way. The original point stands they do need some kind of mental health care.

Stolen Valor to me only bothers me from a personal perspective, but as far as legality goes, it should only be illegal when it comes to soliciting while claiming to be a decorated troop. I'm not opposed to it being illegal overall though.
