The decision was made by the Stafford Electoral Board (with 2 Dems & 1 Rep). Personally, were I on the Board, my vote would depend on whether the absentee ballots WERE in fact at the post office, simply not picked up on the deadline day ... or whether they didn't arrive until some time after the post office closed on the deadline day. Regardless, there are only 55 of them ... and the Republican is ahead by 84. I'm reasonably certain that the 55 won't all go to one candidate ... either the Republican or the Democrat. Given the more conservative leaning (general statement) of those in the military, it is more likely than not that those 55 votes would split unequally in favor of the Republican. Hope they eventually get counted ... and that we hear what the outcome was.

PO1 Don Gulizia
Given that Stafford county is home to 100s (if not 1,000s) of Marine Corps families stationed at Quantico and we know that a lot of absentee ballots are turned in by deployed military members...and a majority of military voters vote Republican...and the Electoral Board knew it would be a close race...it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why those ballots were left out. Once again, the political machine shows that they are really not for the voters, but for the political parties.

Both candidates should call for the votes to be counted. This crap has been happening to military voting ballots for decades.

Politicians have been manipulating military ballots for decades. The federal government NEEDS to get involved with specific legislation that prescribed EXACTLY how our ballots are handled and processed. The military, as well, needs to be far more proactive in this process as well. We have been ignored and neglected for too long.
