Hadn’t been hunting since I was 14 and went with Grandpa and I ran and maintained our camp. We got visited by a DNR Ofcr and was complimented on the orderly appearance of our camp. And he sprung a surprise: dd I have a school excuse letter copy .. a what? In that county kids had to have an excuse letter.
Well most all are from Wayne county and I’m the only one that is still in school. He said letters were sent in August to all school districts in state. I then recieved an appearance ticket to show at juvie division in a probate court.. I asked no further questions.. t me it was like getting a ticket for “out” tail light. Send in with receipt for a bulb and installation by a station worker. And it be accepted, only I’d send a letter from school excusing my 2 days absence. I did just that. We got a letter back that normally they wanted physical appearance in magistrates chamber but since we were from way down southeast Mi. They’d accept it.
How nice of them ! Mom, not to be out done sends a nice thank you note for their consideration in my case. Geez o’pete,
I hoped she didn’t expect an acknowledgement note back.. and she got one from the magistrates admin assistant
No mom you don’t have to send another note ... she didn’t, I thought she’d try and establish a pen-pal. Relationship with the admin assistant.. that’d make for gossip up north.. the wrong people might think mom was establishing a link for a get out of juvie hall card for Me that next year..
Dad solved that, I wasn’t going up next year.. I was too busy next year he said..
I was, .. at My great Aunt’s Restaurant working on my apprenticeship for my Chef certificate.,1st level.. Well where we were at in the state there was only a small calling for venison back ribs or sautéed Venison heart or venison roast.. it’s getting in a Vet certified .Carcass .. and getting a big enough of one. When at the community college we did cut and dress a antelope that had been certified safe ..only way the school would allow it in the kitchen.. that was interesting. Tenderloin was tiny .. about a half lb maybe.., We put e’thing in zippy bags and in a cooler the friend of our head
Of department had brought for the meat.
The hunter said if he had got 2 he would of given us a antelope.. that was considerate.. the one we butchered wasn’t but 65 lb .. couldn’t expect to
See much from that ! A Venison
Grandpa shot weighed out at 155 lbs after all the work .. I got to help with that after he brought it down from the north country.
