All good ideas except the one with the children attacking the shooter the person who came up with that one is a colossal moron but we still need to have an active response in place arming teachers and staff is a viable answer no matter what naysayers may say. I would rather somebody stand up and defend our children then have them cowering in a corner waiting to get shot

Gary and David are both correct. I have not heard any schools outside of Texas that mentioned the fact that someone in the school should be armed and deal with the problem as soon as it starts. That is how you save more children. I would also mention that many times it has been said in my area (near Santa Fe Texas) that if they would ask, there are a lot of us veterans in the area that would be honored to guard our schools. It is funny how politicians will let us go overseas and walk in other countries with M-16's and 9mm's, but don't trust us to carry weapons just about anywhere we go here in the United States!

There are many factors and facets to pick apart. One that really sticks in my craw, is that the "heroes" no longer run towards the bullets. The new SOP is to hunker down and await further Orders. That is why Administrators and some Teachers should be trained and armed. A gun-free zone is a free-to-kill zone. The facts painfully prove that.
