Vladimir Putin must think he's on a mission from God like The Blues Brothers to bring back the old decrepit corrupt nepotistic Soviet Empire. All he's doing is dong is exhausting busy work to the pilots and using up all that fuel he has since he can't sell it on the open market because the u.s. and Canada are flooding it for him and the rest of OPEC.
I believe he is using some of this surplus fuel on these old bear bombers and give his underpaid Pilots something to do LOL. When in peace, prepare for war and global warming is not the biggest threat since nuclear war can bring instant climate change.

LTC Stephen Conway An Old Air Frame but a Good One just like Our Buff. Dual Purpose, Maritime Recon and Bomber. Bet it's expensive with the Upkeep.

Maybe they should have kept the old B-29 bombers that they copied why reverse engineering and giving those to China.

That exhausting busy work and using spare fuel is called "training." We do it too sometimes.

I just decided what I would do if I was a Russian bomber pilot. I'd take a bottle of vodka up with me (filled with water) in case a foreign pilot came up to intercept. Then, in view of the intercepting pilot, I'd pour shots for myself and the crew until the bottle was empty, then I'd start flying erratically. Slow down, lower the landing gear, see how slow the other pilot can fly his jet, steer into his path, etc.
