You are welcome, SFC William Farrell! It sounds like it will be. I'm interested in what it will sound like flying over my house since I only live a few miles from Malmstrom AFB and we are in their flight path.

"receiving the helicopter would mark "the first time in recent history" that the Air Force will have a rotary-wing aircraft "not previously used in another branch of the military"
once again, the USAF leads the way!!!!

I applaud the "off the shelf" decision instead of billions of dollars and years of development of something new. I still think for the long run should have gone with the 60. Probably came down to some Missile Field Generals wanted a more corporate looking aerial taxi.

Sgt John Steinmeier - They had talked about getting the Black Hawk but I never did hear why they changed their mind. It seems like it would've made more sense.

TSgt David L. - The article stated the upgrade package for the 60s they were going to use from the Army was more expensive than the acquisition of the new helicopter. I don't see how in the long run having to train maintenance and flight crews crews in addition to having to maintain a separate parts inventory for a completely different helicopter is overall beneficial for the tax payer.
