Yea, I had one of these sorts of losers pull a stunt like that a couple of years ago. It wasn't thanksgiving but it was a family get together. My son had been in Afghanistan and of course many friends had been to Iraq and other hot spots. This loser was (key word was) my nieces husband. He decided in the middle of my parents living room, with me, my Dad (Vietnam Vet) and my brother and brother in law (both USAF veterans) to start running his soup cooler about the useless wars started over oil by Bush etc. etc. etc. My wife cringed, she new what was coming. I had given him some leeway at previous events trying to keep the peace.
It went very ugly, very quickly. I took his legs out, down dressing him first for the insult of saying things like this in my parents living room, then I made it personal, very personal. He didn't like what I had to say to him about his manhood and a few other things. My niece, his wife, sat there and watched it play out. She knew he asked for it and got it.
They divorced a few months later. Let's just say there were other issues with him that I helped along. Anyone that would show up as a guest and get that out of bounds isn't all there anyway. So, I would welcome another limp dicked GQ type showing up and getting pissy and showing his or her ass.

I don't talk politics 24x7 like some, I do have a younger brother who should know better and a brother in-law that occasionally open their mouths, I laugh at them and go about my business. I deal with enough political BS online and at my job that I don't need more.

Thankfully, the (distant) part of the family who would do this, are the same ones who are "above" coming to family functions.
