Jared Kushner and Steve Bannon want to re-privatize the military. That would be a big mistake

Hmmm, interesting. However, expanding Blackwater and creating more private military organizations only breeds more problems for the U.S. and undermines our military around the world

Too right and it's going to set a bad trend that the biggest power broker is up for highest bidder.

Gee an LATime story quoting a New York Times article, and the author just happens to have a book espousing the dangers of his article... Now, if it turns out to be true backed by facts, there is a problem with that...

Seems this op-ed is to promote the author's book. As well there is already a rather large private military run by State Department, CIA and the likes who hire people pipelined from the military's special operators . Besides financing the personnel training how is Xi or any other professional services contractor going to finance military equipment - M1 runs $4.3 million per unit - during peace times (not getting paid). I would as well love to see how "special weapons" considerations are rolled out to contractors - I'd hate to see a "Snowden" with launch code capabilities. And don't forget protections under SOFA agreements, accountability, ROE's and a host of other non-starter reasons.
