Hmmmm..... John Mackie. Sounds just like my name save for the spelling. How could I NOT have high praise and respect for this guy? :) In all seriousness, his actions truly exemplified dedication to his country, it’s principles, and to his colleagues so as to risk his own life above and beyond the call of duty........ Kudos! Good post.

Not to far off the topic, when I did housing inspections I met a lady whos GG Grandfather was am officer in the Confederate Marines and Commanded a detachment at Drewry's Bluff on the James River. She had one of his photos in uniform and several of his letters and documents.
