The General is trying to sound like he could have prevented this but think about how the call happened. Trump departed from the script because he felt like doing so. No Chief of Staff would have prevented it nor would they have stopped it from happening. So I tend to agree with Trump that the General is trying to make it sound like he was more pro-active in decision making than he was. In fact that was the reason he was let go, he was reactionary to the decisions after they happened vs proactionary prior to the decisions being made and the reactionary posture appeared to Trump as undermining his decisions. Not blaming Kelly 100% because Trump makes impromptu decisions without consulting anyone so at least 50% of the blame goes to Trump for the Kelly vs Trump disagreement.
