I was 8 when this song was released. I do not recall the actual release, but I do recall that if you listen to C&W music, you will still hear it being played. Somethings just never go out of style.

I also was 8, almost nine, when it was released, years later, I went to Folsom Prison to pick up a prisoner and transport back to Pierce County, WA. Being behind those walls was quit the experience.
