The only way the artists can have a valid complaint is if they had a previous property owner agree to have them "decorate" the building. Vandalism is not art. Rape is not an expression of affection.

I agree, but that should have been (if there was such an agreement) passed on to the new owner when he bought it. Nothing in the story suggested that. Here in Houston, we have businesses that leave one wall open for graffiti "artists" to paint, it stays up for awhile, then they paint over and start over. Amazingly enough, there is a lot less random graffiti in the areas where they do this...
