A real Marine, leader and role model. And I have worked in the Public sector and can concur that many in political power may say they want the truth, but what they mean is, "I'd like a helping of truth that fits my personal agenda. And if it contradicts my personal agenda, I will define it as false...only later to redefine it as unintended consequences."

Not long ago, a retired Command Sergeant Major told me the best job in the U.S. Army was First Sergeant. He said it was close enough to know the Troops but with enough authority to make things happen.

"Senior" Corporal for was the best rank for me personally. I received the same respect as all the Sergeants, had less responsibilities (not really, but in the eyes of the higher ups), while still being able to maintain a positive relationship with the troops without looking like the bad guy.

Sgt Joey Ski - I think these "in-between" ranks need to make more of a comeback. Like Corporal in the Army (not too common). The AF could bring back Buck Sergeant for those SrA that show a knack for leadership.

I agree. I have taught over twenty years, worked in manufacturing, and was self-employed, but the most fulfilling job I ever had was being an NCO in the Army for two years. What say you?
