Kurdish peshmerga say US ISIS defector Muhammad Jamal Amin detained

Reports say the peshmerga initially suspected he was a suicide bomber, and fired warning shots at him, he then identified himself as a former militant with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) who wished to turn himself in.

He was identified via a Virginia, U.S., driver's license. "Muhammad Jamal Amin is a Virginia-born American citizen of a Palestinian father and Iraqi mother from Mosul."

Arabic news is reporting he "mistakenly walked into peshmerga hands".

Hopefully information retrieved from the items he was carrying and from him will be a windfall and aid the peshmerga and other forces fighting against ISIL.
