I concede that I am a strong admirer of the Kurds. Everyone had written them off. Our DoS stated in the media the Kurds were of no strategic importance as the Kurds fought ISIS at Mosul, and fought to open safe Corregidor in Northern Iraq for Kurdish refugees, and we were not exactly punctual in arming them. Passion and pride gave the Kurds the volition to evolve from militia type units to an army of the same uniform. When the Iraqis attack Mosul, I expect the Kurds to hover over N Iraq to prevent ISIS' escape. They are the true lions in the desert.

Just realized this is an older article from February, then updated on March. This probably doesn't represent Iraq today.
