Service members are expected to join a lawsuit against a military contractor for knowingly issuing defective equipment.
TJ Mayes, junior partner at Phipps Deacon Purnell PLLC, said an estimated 25 former and current military personnel will claim hearing loss and other damages due to 3M Company (3M) willfully selling the U.S. military defaulted ear plugs.
The lawsuit is planned to be filed Friday at the U.S. District Court, Western District of Texas.
The United States military settled with the company in 2018 for $9.1 million, according to a U.S. Department of Justice statement, for failing to disclose the design defect.
