Great article and look at leadership from the UK Army perspective.

More worryingly is that a minority of more senior Regimental officers seem almost proud of their young charges and their capacity to endure the most vicious of hangovers. Aside from the health and safety implications associated with such behaviour, don’t our soldiers deserve better than this? Leadership, first and foremost, is surely about personal example – living the values and standards that sit at the very core of who we are as professional service personnel in the 21st century."

The British military is not like ours. It is still loosely based on a class system which we don't have in the US. I've been to the British mess; quite different from ours.

The following is off topic. Sorry.
I was thinking about the shooters at the Mosques in New Zealand and posted a comment on a SGT's post about how the shooters were so calm and carried out their attack on the unarmed. Not to mention following unlawful orders if they exist.
Don't you think there is a lot of information no one is talking about on the three arrested? It is as if they have murdered before and were good at it.

I do not think so in that regards - but all I have read seems to indicate that the gunman went about it in a manner that denied those being shot the ability to respond. Or did not know when to respond... How many times did he change mags or change weapons? And in that - I think your right - he trained for this - and like most terror attacks that succeed - he did not do this off the cuff and just decide to act - but planned and prepared to conduct the attack. That is something very different than most of the right wing attacks or jihobbyist attacks.
