I'm not a member of the SCV (never had enough time for extracurricular activities). But I've known many people who are. From their web site:
"The Sons of Confederate Veterans, in furtherance of the Charge of Lieutenant General Stephen D. Lee, shall be strictly patriotic, historical, educational, fraternal, benevolent, non-political, non-racial and non-sectarian. The Sons of Confederate Veterans neither embraces, nor espouses acts or ideologies of racial and religious bigotry, and further, condemns the misuse of its sacred symbols and flags in the conduct of same. Each member is expected to perform his full duty as a citizen according to his own conscience and understanding."
This supposed white supremist boogey man, is in actuality a historical preservation group. Most of the SCV members I know have spent their time at Civil War Battle Reenactments dressed in period costume. There main causes are battlefield preservation and maintenance of historical statues and markers.
Hardly the evil white supremist group that Yahoo News wants them to be. OBTW there is also a Daughters of Confederate Veterans organization, and even Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution organizations. These groups are historical preservation groups, not militants, not activists, and not racists.
And yes they were at Charlottesville protesting (peacefully) against the proposed removal of a statues of Robert E. Lee.

I don't think you are going to do much to watch anything since you lack the means and authority to do so...
