In my view both California and Texas are spending plenty of money on Education BUT nobody is minding the store via supervision, metrics and holding people accountable for the crappy performance. That is the main issue here.

Spot on as far as you go. However, there is also the issue of the children of illegal aliens creating artifacts in the statistics

CPT Jack Durish - I agree and I googled. Federal Government subsidizes free medical care for illegal immigrants in that it attempts to reimburse hospital emergency rooms for their care of them but it does not cover all the costs. Education and Medical Care of illegal immigrants last year was estimated to cost the country just North of $80 Billion dollars.............and they are arguing about $5 billion for the wall. It is just unbelieveable.

I think this is an outcome of massive illegal immigration as well. We have a larger and large percentage of our population under educated. Keep in mind, lots of people lie and exaggerate their level of education, it could be much worse.

5 of the top 7 on the list are border states that have higher levels of illegal immigration. What do you think the education level of the average adult in the caravans is?

$80+ Billion a year taxpayer hit in education and medical care. Cost rises each year because the first year immigrants are failing to assimilate into society as well as we thought they would. I think we are OK with second and third generations though.
