The talking points about how the tax cuts were going to help middle class families, would allow businesses to increase wages, etc. were nothing more than total fallacies designed to make the majority of people think the tax cuts were great. What the tax cuts actually did was shift more wealth to the 1% and leave middle class families and workers to shoulder the heavier tax burdens. It was voodoo economics then, it still is and it remains that way.
