Thanks for sharing LTC (Join to see). It has been 36 years since I visited the Parthenon in Athens, Greece. In those days I was pondering the Greek Civil War as I had passed the battered fortifications from that war on the train ride south. I was also mindful of the war with radical Islam and communist terror groups which was ebbing and flowing in those days in Europe and around the Mediterranean especially.

It is a sad consequence of interwoven alliances. So many countries are allied with other countries that are not friends with their friends that when one of them takes offense and starts a military action, it draws other countries into the conflict due to treaties & alliances.
We always hope that cooler heads will prevail in situations that are high stress, but, sadly, actions do happen that trigger a devastating outcome.

I have long hoped that the US and Russia could really get together on stomping out the terrorists. I don't think it would be too much of a stretch to say that the normal folks and leaderships in countries hi jacked by the terrorists would also love to be rid of the scourge.
Russia and the US are capable of working together.
At this time I believe each country has a government interested in crushing the socialists, communists, and fascists. What a wonderful idea.

Interesting. I didn't think about the angle of if/when DPRK falls, someone is going to grab the nukes. The book "The Ten Thousand" by Harold Coyle begins with a joint US-Russian nuclear "smash & grab" operation in Czechoslovakia that goes wrong when the Germans discover the recovered nukes were on German soil. A genuine shooting match begins between the FRG and an armored corps that has to fight its way from the south of Germany to Bremerhaven in the north. Interesting story that was written many decades ago, but suddenly has current relevance.
