Veterans and military training helps Americans every day. Most never realize it.

This has been irritating me. Her ability to land the plane has very little to do with her military experience - in fact, fighters rarely deal with Vmca due to their centerline thrust - and was not a particularly difficult situation in terms of piloting. The more we act like this is some crazy feat of heroism and skill, the more we generalize the profession as being bus drivers rather than skilled operators. Literally any professional pilot would have done it the same way.
This is not like Capt Sullenberger, who did something which has never before or since been accomplished; it's a quick descent to 10,000' for pressurization followed by a single-engine landing. Despite a passenger dying, this was not a big deal in the cockpit in terms of procedures.
