It's the children that lose out the most. They haven't had the time to truly be kids.

It is a picture that tells you how corrupt and uncaring government can be and when left unchecked the resulting carnage and suffering that can be unleashed.
The struggle in Syria is all driven by power. The power of Assad, Russia/Putin, ISIS, Rebels, Iran and yes, the U.S. as well. As bad as Syria was under the Assads, they were in far better shape than they have been the last 5-7 years. That is a damning statement about statecraft and the state of affairs in the world in the 21st century.
We need a winner there so the country can be stabilized and the suffering stopped, the refugee flow stemmed and people can return home. The status quo is killing thousands.
