And rightly so.
This officer is a career man with a long record. That doesn't preclude him from being a partisan or biased, but his character should not come into question unless his actions or deeds bring it into question.
Having said that, this highlights one of the problems of conducting these hearings behind closed doors. We get only what the committee wants us to see, not how it was said, what his bearing is, what the tenor of the questioners was, and how he answered questions from the other party.
We just get "I was troubled and talked to so-and-so about it".
