This article reminded me of a couple of TDY locations I've been to where we were authorized a decent per diem rate, and the on post food courts, mess hall "adjusted" the costs to eat because of the per diem rate. Day 1 the amount of whining and crying about the cost of food etc was hilarious. I just sat there and ate my bologna sandwich and bag of chips (went to wal mart and stocked up in my room with sandwich stuff, breakfast bars etc). Common sense isn't so common...lol

I don't find it funny. I find it tragic. The people up there often forget that they are representatives of the people and not prima donnas.

That is indeed a conundrum. Recommend the executive branch trades them Fort Polk, LA or Fort Irwin CA immediately, the staffers can live in the barracks and eat at the DFAC. We can air drop pallets of HCP I and II packs quarterly. There, I fixed it.
