I spent 18 months in Abu Dhabi working construction immediate post enlistment. The Iranian hostage crisis was still under way, but I have to admit I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The Emirates are fairly understanding about westerners as long as you don't abuse their hospitality. As long as you mind your P's and Q's they are scrupulous in fair treatment. I was highly impressed with the way the oil revenues are being invested in developing the country and taking care of their citizens. I'm not surprised to see a facility like this in Abu Dhabi. The quality of civic works such as parks and venues is first rate throughout the country and I would love to return for a vacation visit sometime.
