Even though I'm holding one in the attached photo, I never fired it. But there are a lot of stories going around about misfires, due to carelessness, within the confines of truck cabs, etc. Kind of a touchy weapon to have around.

When I was in CAP platoons in Vietnam, I was able to come up with both an M3 and an M3A1 version of the grease gun (weapons accountability was not good). I liked them both, as long as I could get enough .45 ammo to keep them running. Great for breaking up ambushes, and the cyclic rate of fire was slow enough (I think 450 rpm) to make it controllable. I wouldn't mind having one now, in case the zombies come! :-)

Love the grease gun. Last got to shoot one about 4 or 5 years ago at the NRA range. It was one of the NRA museum guns and they brought it out, along with a cart full of .45 acp ammo, for the high school kids attending their Youth Education Summit. I was one of the instructors and after the kids all got to shoot a magazine of ammo through the gun we got to finish off the left over ammo. We also had an MP5. Good times.
