Great, until you have to keep getting new backs as your fruit salad gows. That happens with the old sliders too; I don't know which is more expensive.

I'd think that with even modest sheet metal cutting skills, a Dremel (or just sand paper) to clean up the edges, and basic soldering skills for the pins one could make a back without too much effort.
