Although San Clemente Island is well-used by the USN and Marine Corps, I'd nominate Vieques Island (off Puerto Rico) as the most used USN/Marine Corps target island. It was in use from the early 1900's through the 1990's (I think that's when we stopped using it), whereas San Clemente Island was only in use from WWII - the present.

We would take LCU landing craft to San Clemente Island and shoot artillery for a few days. The boat ride was about 4 hours to get there. Nice and relaxing.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - We had a DD out there. Skipped a round off of a hill. I'm sure we skipped a couple too.
