This rock has finite resources. We COULD manage them to sustainable, indefinite levels...but that would require population control, and worldwide cooperation. That's never, ever, going to happen, no matter how much anyone of any political ideology wishes it to be so. So. We either leave this rock, and tap the near-infinite resources Out There...or. We die off here.
