My educated guess, Capt Dwayne Conyers, based on everything I have read or watched indicates some 20 missions to send the necessary materials, tools, food, machines, etc... The number of missions may be less or slightly more... These missions do not have to be serial in nature, but can be multiple missions simultaneously during the closest distance interval between Earth and Mars to make this feasible...

That 2-year waiting period for Mars to be closest to Earth is both good and bad. Good because it forces us to take time for planning and building mission requirements. Bad because it is a long wait between sending out missions.

It's interesting that the ground looks like dried cement - until I see where the treads have kicked up the dirt. Then it looks soft and, in places, damp.
