Well this type of situation won’t help them recruit people for their national guard positions. Leave your civilian job to serve during a pandemic and lose out on your civilian paycheck and then get your even smaller (usually) military paycheck not be issued to you on time is an even worse burden. I can’t imagine the stress of being one of these soldiers away from your family on orders during a pandemic, dealing with your duty during the pandemic, and then your spouse calling you saying “honey there is no money in our bank account to buy groceries, pay the car payment, pay the mortgage” and all of us who have had pay problems know how horrible it is to be the soldier and try and deal with the spouse and your job all while trying to navigate the millions of phone calls and forms to get your finances right.
