That seems to be a good idea, more often than not it seems the restrictions on the Rules of Engagement managed to get US Soldiers killed. In Viet Nam, the MACV, Rules of Engagement did cost American's their lives and unreasonable restrictions still existed in the Persian Gulf War. Its about time someone paid attention to History and its results and corrected this. The was the ROE were applied up to this point were sure appreciated by the enemy, He had no such rules, this just protected Him and endangered our troops.

There is still too much unknowns yet we need to wait and see before we start calling it a good idea or not. We will find out this coming year if thus will be good or bad there is not enough evidence to clearly make a determination on that.

MSgt Kurt S. - there are other professional warfighters who don't share that his views like general David Patraues and Stanley McCrystal are firm proponents of the COIN and General Patraues used it to great effect in Iraq. Afghanistan has different variables to consider but I don't believe there is blanket solution to Combating terror abroad and I believe Secretary of Defense Mattis also knows that as well either way you can't just say this is good idea or not that's going to be determined this coming year wether this new tactic is going to make or break our missions in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

MSgt Kurt S. - I'm not saying this tactic is right or wrong just not conclusive whether this will help or hurt our mission it could arguably save more of our guys that I'm ok with but it also has the risk of hurting the mission in both countries creating the need for more missions to send our guys out on that's why at best it still has yet to be determined how this will effect things we just need to execute and see what it's going to do for our mission.
