Congratulations to Capt Locksmith on being appointed to the Marine Barracks 8th & I parade staff. However, this is nothing new - women have marched on the 8th & I parade staff in the past. Being on the staff requires an exemplary standard of drill and military appearance, so she must have aced it during the auditions. As far as I know, there are still no female Marines as marchers in 8th & I's ceremonial parade platoons, which are classified as infantry by the Corps (platoons of marchers were sent as infantry to the Middle East during the past 20 years, and they train in infantry tactics at Quantico), and are therefore currently closed to women, but that may change if the social engineers get hold of it. Other ceremonial units at 8th & I (U.S. Marine Drum & Bugle Corps, U.S. Marine Band, "The President's Own") are open to women Marines, who participate in all functions of those units.

I was there from 2010-2015 in Guard, I still keep tabs on it and as far as I know in Guard and the Marching companies there are no females still.
