I disagree that we're ready sir. However, I think it's going to happen regardless of whether it makes sense or not. Until females are held to the same standards as males it'll be hard for me to support such a move. With that said, CPT Griest is probably one of the bast candidates there is to be a trailblazer.

Thanks for the update COL (Join to see). I expect wherever CPT Griest gets assigned it will become a media frenzy for weeks to months. Hopefully both she and whatever command she is assigned to will survive and thrive. I saw a larger version of that media frenzy and disruption at West Point because I was a part of the first class with women as cadets.
I am still having trouble adjusting to the title of the Maneuver Captain's Career Course. I went through the Infantry Officers Advanced Course at Fort Benning in 1984 and later the Combined Arms and Services Staff School in 1986 after company command. Both IOAC and CAS3 are now schools that were eliminated many years ago. IOAC and the Armor Officer Advanced Courses were replaced by the 22 week Maneuver Captains Career Course which is conducted at Fort Benning the Maneuver Center of Excellence.
