Meet the US Military's Three Four-Star Women

If you want brag about how you think they got it vs. how they really got it, please skip and whine in the next post. I'm proud of the services for allowing women the ability to command, and the ability to break the "good ol boys" glass ceiling of rank. I'm still having issues with a few things though: The SMA job does not have an official feeder MOS, so why is it only Combat Arms seem to make it? There is nothing official that states it has to be a male SM to be considered. There are expected positions the SM would need to have had, but that's the same as any NCO or Officer to be worthy of promotion. So why not a woman? The CSA also has no "official" requirements in regards to sex, PT score, or number of visible tats. Again why can't a woman do the job? I was stationed at INSCOM Ft. Belvior and our CSM McConnell who worked for GEN Alexander and GO's afterwards made a point of telling us if you don't try, how will you know you can't succeed? He was a MI CSM, smart as hell, and it wasn't uncommon for him to stop you for no other reason but to say hello. He applied and didn't make it, but it did not define him. He kept going till he retired. But we're repeating the cycle. Only Combat Arms, usually a former combatant commander, but that is it. I feel it would be awesome to see a competent woman in a combatant commanders slot, along with a CSM who is knowledgeable and knows how to employ assets to win the fight, not settle for an uneasy draw. And before we go down that road again, SKIP to the next post. As a combatant commander, you might "know" your AO, but it's not until you are running the show where what you know meets reality. A good CSM would be an invaluable toolbox of information in this case, but it "has" to be a man. If anyone has proof that their service branch requires a male to be at any of the top positions, please post and explain. I don't know it all, but I can learn.
