Their music may be good, CW5 Jack Cardwell, but you won’t find me celebrating the Saint Patrick's Battalion, even just for fun. They were “a unit of 175 to several hundred (accounts vary) immigrants and expatriates of European descent who fought as part of the Mexican Army against the United States in the Mexican–American War of 1846–48. Most of the battalion's members had deserted or defected from the United States Army.“
I have many Irish friends, but to hell with the Saint Patrick’s Battalion and their annual celebrations. I’m not too crazy about Mexico for perpetuating their memory either.
