I was glad I rode with a real half helmet, not a plastic skull cap when I had my wreck. I definitely had a severe concussion, along with the other open fractures, but the squash was still intact. The helmet is the only thing I kept from the wreck.

A very high risk endeavor. We are as likely to be killed driving a motor vehicle as we are during combat.

Well Duh. I was in a 30 mile bicycle race and as I was finishing up mile 15 I came across one of the leaders who was sideswiped by a car, wrecked and hit his head had on the curb. He was pretty much a mess. I pulled out of the race as I completed mile 15 due to how unsafe the course was. They wouldn't even block traffic at several major intersections. A win was not worth it.
Then you see ho9w these young riders ride on the streets and interstate and wonder why they are not killing themselves every day. There are a lot of young riders out here that will not make it to 30 years of age.
