AGREED!!! The book goes places that the Movie could not because of Time limitations and Censorship laws at the time. Not that the book is pornographic or filthy it is a book about NAVY life aboard ship. Nuff said.

Really? I knew there was a sequel Ensign Pulver, though it paled by comparison, however. That is neato, obviously...I could make invidious comparisons to McHale's Navy, I suppose, lol....

Ens Pulver was no where near. Robert Walker was a poor choice to play Thurlough Pulver. Burl Ives made a minimal captain barely believably, Walter Matthou was the most believable one as DOC of the whole cast. The story was lacking sadly.
