Sitting here with my morning coffee, if this wasn't so on track it would have been hilarious! The world I grew up in is no more. Society has become so obsesses with being politically correct, no hurting feelings, every one get a trophy, no one lost, no wonder the important things of life are being eroded away.
Ethics, standards, morality no longer matter. I don't believe in gay marriage - so am I a bigot? I don't believe in abortion, yet I feel every woman has the right to a choice - it's what she has to live with - so am I standing on the fence? Borders, Language, Culture are some of the defining traits of a country, you want to move to another country - then accept their ways, language, culture because they let you in - so am I a racist?
I guess I grew up in another time where standards were expected to be met. I grew up knowing if I wasn't first place I didn't win - yet by not placing in myself I strived to be better, to improve myself so I could place first. One of the learning parts of school was being able to adapt to a working society once I was older. Where do we draw the line? Why have we let the standards be so eroded nothing matters any more?
I do have a big bone to pick with those who created the english language and spelling of words. After moving to Denmark I learned why. Danish, like English are both Germanic based languages, yet Danish has some very practical spelling of words: School(E) - Skole (D), Cup (E) - Kup(D), Phone (E) - Fone(D), Elephant (E) - Elefant(D) and the list goes on. Mr. Webster, sure wish you would have made our lives simple.
