More Americans believe in the Devil's existence than in God

We are instilled with a freedom of belief.

What's truly heartbreaking to me is that I know so many people who can embrace everything from the existence of alien life to the paranormal... who find God "too good to be real". I wouldn't want to make broad assessments, but sometimes I'm convinced the real problem is that it's often "easier" to just believe in darkness. The world, and the life we live in it is hard. Conventional wisdom is that the best defense against being taken advantage of is to take advantage of others. Most people appear convinced that foul language, foul living, and "shock value" trumps any other defense. We've become a society that loves (no... worships) vulgarity, brutality, deception, controversy, and chaos. To my mind, it's very easy to see how it would be hard for anyone to "see" God through all of that.
