The boys of summer are back. Much of this has to do with monitoring ice as it melts. Some of it is practice for potential hostilities. It starts in spring and continues through fall, then the aircraft leave their forward bases. Depending on the size and volume, USAF will open up additional alert sites in response.

LTC (Join to see) I Love the Headline! Russian Spy Planes, Bombers Approach Alaskan Airspace. Makes you think two different kind of Aircraft. LOL! TU-95 Bear is a Bomber used for Maritime Reconnaissance. Makes it sound like two different kinds of Aircraft not one with two kinds of Mission. Now You Never Really Know which it is doing, which is Problematic.

LTC (Join to see) - When they are flying straight Overhead like they did to Us in Adak, You wonder if it is Spy vs Spy as Usual or are they going to drop bombs on Us.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - a few years ago they were going to go from an Airborne Brigade to Airborne battalion as part of the downsizing in Alaska. I'm glad they are changing their mind because even the Canadians are ramping up their forces in the Arctic because Russia has expanded at least a dozen Airfield and I really posted it Russian Arctic Base that President Putin visit it a couple days ago. He wants to or oil and gas in the Arctic like he doesn't have enough already in his own neck of the woods.
