Yeah here's the thing... most state and local building codes don't even allow the old lead & oakum sealing of cast iron pipes and have not for around 40 years. Nor have plumbers used solder with lead on drinking systems for close to 50 years. So how many school buildings does that knock off the list. The lead levels may well exceed the EPA standard, but it isn't coming from the school's plumbing facilities. The lead is coming from old cast iron distribution systems almost always owned and maintained by local and regional water authorities. So the head line sounds shocking but it is misdirected.
