Whenever I even consider going back to Active Duty, it is stuff like this that slaps the Reality back into me.
If you actually follow the data, with the exception of about 4 states, C-19 is all but gone from the U.S. The constant revelations in the news that rates have been faked or made-up entirely, false positives, and other duplicitous tactics to keep the fear-porn going only reinforce the data. State governors are keeping their populations subjugated in order to keep their own tyrant egos stoked (or is it "Stroked?") It is sad that the US Military is all-in for the fear-porn, and is ruining careers over it.
The lieutenants mentioned in the article should have just offered to resign in lieu of the GOMOR, as a GOMOR effectively ends their careers. The NCOs mentioned will suffer pretty much the same career-ending fate, as monthly QMP boards will show those NCOs the door. During a time when Army recruitment is hurting, ending the careers of our frontline guys is counter-intuitive. I heartily believe that in the future, when the Army and the US Military leadership in general look back upon 2020, they will cringe, facepalm themselves, and wonder what the hell they were thinking. But seeing the Big Picture is not what usually happens in these types of events.

Officers can't resign willy-nilly. Any career aspirations they may have had may be effectively over, but they still have that six-year bid to complete.

I thought Washington state got strict during our 1 shutdown. Ft. Benning sounds like a prison.

Did you know Casey Merriman?
You and I may have crossed paths down at ESA. SFC (Join to see)

Can’t say I recall Casey Merriman. I got to Benning Sep 2013 and PCS’d April 2016 SFC James Cameron

I got there in March ‘16. Merriman was a Mailed Foot Drill that came over to Kelley Hill after his trail time was up. I thought he was in D Co. SFC (Join to see)

The name is slightly familiar. However I don’t remember a good 90% of people from back then who were not in D Co hahaSFC James Cameron

Typical chickenshit. A bit surprising that officers and NCOs got caught up in this, but clearly the Base Commander is a hardass and they probably should have known better. I mean, really, you usually know when you're serving under a dick. I wonder how clearly the Commander made their position clear beforehand.
