When my wife worked a decade ago in the oil at Fort McMurray, she was not allowed to be the actual driver even though she had the basic and professional truck drivers license. She was "the swamper" also known as the co-driver and a white guy who new the area (but had no big rig license )was allowed to drive in her place and was paid more than she was. In the Canadian province of Saskatchewan, there was a scandal a few years ago were a Pakistani truck driving company was taking payoffs and giving licenses to Pakistani driver for just paying the money. My wife, who is native, was not able to be paid the same amount of money nor was she able to drive the big rig while working in the oil fields. There is Rafa discrimination against Caucasian and others against First Nations truck drivers to the point where the First Nations have their own truck driving school now that is totally certified and has allowed natives to enter the truck driving field without discrimination. She suspects that it's possible that one of those crackheads or one of those inexperienced drivers who paid for a driver's license was involved in this accident. My condolences for the coach and all the other family members who died in this tragic accident!
