It is an imperative to exercise a joint force to smoothen out the capabilities, logistics, doctrine, tactics of various countries. It just makes a lot of sense.

I am going to make a strong assumption the US military has an experience advantage in conventional war due to Desert Storm and the invasion of Iraq. Also, there has to be some centralization and decentralization of large units in war.
