Remains a question of who really learned the lesson of what happened in 2014. "In light of the crushing numerical superiority of anti-ISIS forces, it is easy to assume that their victory is inevitable. This assumption, however, ignores the fact that when Mosul fell to ISIS in 2014, the force ratio was even more lopsided in favour of the Iraqi army. The 2014 victory of ISIS demonstrated that an underequipped, vastly outnumbered force can still triumph if it breaks the enemy’s will to fight."

Remains to be seen, we are sending in more forces for a reason and it isn't because a crushing defeat is inevitable.

Those forces are all headed to Syria.... which is another battle shaping up to be one we are not really doing the shaping of.

This battle is not taking the same amount of time as the US took in 2003 in the race to Baghdad.
