So...If I am a student in highschool I can choose what gender I am at the drop of a hat but I'm not permitted to have any deep friendships?

I think asking that question counts as hate speech.

As far as I understand it... "friendship" is an abstract concept, and "best" is a personal qualitative judgment.

If I were a student attending a school that made such a ruling, my response would be simple. "No, not only no, but #%& no! #%& you and the horse you rode in on."

If I were a parent of a student attending a school that made such a ruling, my response would be simple. "No, not only no, but #%& no! #%& you and the horse you rode in on. Stay in your lane. Stay out of my lane, or find out how much I am willing to spend on lawyers."

I do not think I have ever seen a more diabolical Orwellian example of thought control. What's next, no favorite lunch?

Part of juvenile socialization is learning that certain types of behavior either attract or repel people. Not everyone deserves to be liked, some people are not friendship material.

WOW...now we are going to tell who kids can and can't be friends with at school? That is direclty against human nature. First that is not the schools place to do so...period. If I don't feel my daughter needs to be friends with someone, I will tell her...not the school...Bump that!
