In the explanation paragraph of the Organization Sports Day, The BNCDR subbed a large can of baked beans as the Winning trophy to the Company as a gag trophy until they get the original one back from the old CO. Please for the life of me, explain how a can of baked beans offend someone? Are we not already "inclusive"? We have Soldiers from all over the US, from different backgrounds, religions and customs. Example: One Soldier from LA. No, not that LA, Lower Alabama. He talked like Boomhower on King of the Hill. Total back woods. I had a kid from Louisiana who said he was a "coonass" and proud of it. The Governor passed a law from saying it as it was degrading. Soldier from W.V. that was very poor. Dirt floor house, hunting dogs slept with them for warmth. Salt of the earth kid. A SGT was calling him a muther f*ker. Soldier repeated many times that he is, they don't do that just bc he's from W.V. the SGT said it one more time and KAPOW. Laid that SGT out. No one called him that any longer. My roommate from Presideo, TX. He was of Mexican heritage. He was proud of that but always stated he was American first and his family lived in the states for generations. He joked around about walking out his back door, going to the river bank and waving to his cousins across the river.
When I first came in, some people didn't even know where Maine was. Got teased of my accent and NO we don't sound like we're from Boston!!! More questions of did we have indoor plumbing, electricity, how did we heat our homes. Yes, course we do ya smart asses. LOL. But I would fabricate a little remembering my great Uncles house. So told them we had a 2 seater off the shed. Heated and cooked on a wood stove. Oil lamps for light. An old ice box for a fridge. How we have block houses for preserving meats and the ice we cut from the pond and stacked them in the block houses with ice. Water was drawn from a well until one day my dad and a couple of my Uncles fixed it up to where we had a hand pump in the kitchen. My dad get home from work, take the battery out, hook it up to the tv and watch the news. Winter was the worse bc I had to sleep with my brother to keep warm.
So you can see why I ask. Is the Army becoming over sensitive with this that it will come around and bite them in the arse? They going to not send Soldiers to the field bc they have reservations about going?
It also mentions about males being able to wear earrings when Not in uniform. That's been going on for over 30 years that I know of. Regs have jumped back in forth on it many times. So how does this increase "diversity"?
So does this create more of a problem/open the door for "Stop swearing SGT, it offends me" bc the Soldier screwed up, and is deflecting it to make the SGT to be the bad guy?
